  • BTB: Judgment, Mercy, and Grace.

So.. I’m starting a new series! It’s called Back to Basics. Tungkol siya sa pinaka basic na principles na we believe in. I think this is a good idea para naman we understand those ‘religious terms’ that are overly used but rarely explained.

Let’s start with Judgment, Mercy and Grace.

Imagine niyo muna itong situation. Kunwari you are driving along Commonwealth Avenue at napabilis ang takbo mo’t nag overspeeding ka.

Kailangan mong mamatay.

That’s judgment. You get what you deserve. You are being assessed by what you have done and you get the corresponding treatment. For our case, God’s judgment tells us that we are supposed to die and burn in hell for the sins that we have committed. Carrying on..

Police: Pero dahil mahal kita, patatawarin kita. Sige, di na kita parurusahan, ako ng bahala sa track record mo sa police station. Lalagay ko nalang sa track record ko.

That’s mercy. Mercy is when we are spared from judgment or harm. He gave us compassion despite the wrong things that we did deliberately. But ut doesn’t end there!

Police: Pero since sobrang mahal kita, sige bibigyan narin kita ng P100,000 pesos para pang tuition mo at allowance. Bibigyan narin kita ng pang grocery mo para di ka magutom sa bahay.

That’s Grace. Grace is something that we don’t deserve but is given to us anyways. Tulad nung one hundred thousand pesos!

Though we think na He is a stranger in our lives, He loves us completely! At kahit nung tayo pa nagkamali, minahal niya tayo.

He loves us not because of what we do for Him, but He loves us because of who He is. Amazing God! :)

So that concludes my first Back to Basics blog. :) Thank you for reading! See you on my next post.

If you have any questions, put it here.

  • It is never too late.

I was so complacent with my walk with God that I failed to see the many issues that slowly crept and corrupted my motives and works. But I am so thankful for today, because today is the day that the Lord has chosen to show me these things that are keeping me from moving towards my goal in life.

It is never too late, He reminded me.

Wow. So here I am, starting from the very beginning and rediscovering who God is. A long way to go, but somehow I am very happy! I find it better to start from the start with the right heart and motives rather than be at the top with a confused and  worn-out heart.

I have finally realized my peace, and He is here with me. :)

  • You think you’re just a nobody?

This is what God says about you,

God doesn’t care how great a person may be or pay more attention to the rich than the poor. He made them all. Job 34:19

He made the rich and the poor, made the great and the weak. But don’t ever look down on yourself, just because you have no position in life! Actually, YOU SHOULD REJOICE! Do you know why? Because this is what God said in his word:

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are,  so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 1

Isn’t God amazing? Therefore, those who think highly of themselves can only thank God because it was God who made them that way. To those who think they are less than the people in powe, rejoice! Because God will also use you mightily for His kingdom!

    REJOICE~! :)

  • Refuse to be depressed!

Many people in the Bible understood what depression feels like. For example:

I am worn out from my groaning.
All night long I flood my bed with weeping

and drench my couch with tears.
    My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
they fail because of all my foes.

    Psalm 6:6-7

    Or this:

    Reproaches have broken my heart,
so that I am in despair.
I looked for pity, but there was none,
and for comforters, but I found none.

    Psalm 69:20

Does any of this sound familiar?

The good news is that God doesn’t want us to live with these feelings! He wants us to have the joy of the Lord rise in us and chase away spirits of heaviness. As it is said in Psalm 6:8-9:

Away from me, all you who do evil,
for the LORD has heard my weeping.
     The LORD has heard my cry for mercy;
       the LORD accepts my prayer.

God wants us to cry out to Him so He can lift us out of depression. Go on, talk to him. He is able to save you from whatever mess or situation you are in. He is able to save. :)

  • Are you tired? Then read this.

It’s easy to get burned out from overwork or just being continually upset and frustrated about problems, especially when you focus on them rather than keeping your eyes on the Lord.

Don’t rely on yourself and your own strength and abilities. God has promised to provide the strength, energy, and power you need to keep going. For he said in His word,

He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. -Isaiah 40:29

So learn to relax more and allow the Lord to restore and renew you before you start falling apart. Come apart daily and spend quality time with Jesus.

If you have any prayer concerns, or you need someone to talk to, just message me here.

  • Attraction to beauty & arousal isn’t a sin.

It just means you’re alive. Arousal is an uncontrollable physiological response. But what you do with it IS 100% within your control. Switch your focus immediately.

Lust is wanting what is not rightfully yours, like the intimacy of someone who was not meant for you. That’s why we need to live in the spirit to battle this hard war on sin. For it is written,

Live by the Spirit & you will not DO the desires of your sinful nature. -Galalatians 5:16

You can do it, my brother and sisters! :)
