  • “It’s tough to enjoy life when you don’t like yourself. People who haven’t learned to accept and get along with themselves tend to have more difficulty accepting and getting along with others.”
    — Joyce Meyer, on being yourself.

  • Ptolemaic thinking(self-centered) vs. Copernican thinking(God-centered life)

Ptolemaic thinking says, “My BODY is mine; I’m going to enjoy it.
God-centered thinking acknowledges, “It is GOD’s; I have to respect it.

    In our suffereings,

“My pain proves God’s absence” will be replaced with “My pain amplifies God’s purpose and grace.”

If you think it’s all about you, and I think it’s all about me, we have no hope in creating a perfect melody in this God-orchestrated life. No wonder our homes are so noisy, businesses so stress-filled, government so cutthroat, and harmony so rare. ‘Cause we’ve always been trained to think that it’s all about me.

I want a spouse that makes me happy and co-workers who always ask my opinion. I want weather that suits me and traffic that helps me and a government that serves me. It’s all about me.

Just look at our entertainment industry. A prominent actress justifies her appearance in a porn magazine saying, “I wanted to express MYSELF”

    Self-promotion. Self-preservation. Self-centeredness.

But with all that, look at all the chaos. Why? Because it’s not the way that things should be. It’s not about me, or you. It’s about God. The God-centered life works. And it rescues us from this life that doesn’t.

  • As a genuine person, you will not act superior or pretend to be someone you are not.

You will honestly admit when you’ve been wrong.

Being openly genuine will open the door to a trusting relationship between you and those you want to help. It will encourage them to come to you and to respect what you say.

If you want to help others, be willing to be real.

“You can’t keep your true self hidden forever; before long you’ll be exposed. You can’t hide behind a religious mask forever; sooner or later the mask will slip and your true face will be known.” Luke 12:2 MSG
